Dr. Julie Fischer received her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Tennessee, College of Veterinary Medicine. She completed a rotating internship at the Atlantic Veterinary College, University of Prince Edward Island, Canada, and a small animal internal medicine residency at Kansas State University.

Professional Background
Dr. Fischer is passionate about the evolving art of post-doctoral veterinary education, has directed VSH’s internal medicine residency training program since its inception in 2007, and has served on the ACVIM’s SAIM Credentials, Residency Training, and Specialty Exam Committees. She particularly enjoys the diagnosis and management of upper and lower urinary tract diseases, has published scientific journal articles and textbook chapters, and has spoken locally, nationally, and internationally on nephrology, urology, and other internal medicine topics.

Work History
In 2002, Dr. Fischer established UC Davis’s Nephrology, Urology, and Hemodialysis Service in San Diego, coordinating the program until 2009 and becoming a nationally recognized expert in upper and lower urinary tract disease.
