Neighborhood Veterinary Hospitals of San Diego requires current rabies vaccines for all pets being seen at our hospital.

  • FVRCP (Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis, Calicivirus, Panleukopenia) Vaccine
    • Begin as early as 8 weeks.
    • Given every 3-4 weeks until 16 weeks of age!
    • Boostered annually until 4 years of age.
    • Then every 3 years.
  • FeLV Vaccine (Feline Leukemia)
    • Begin at 12 weeks of age, series of two vaccines given 3-4 weeks apart.
    • Boostered annually.
  • Rabies Vaccine
    • Given once at 16 weeks of age.
    • Boostered at 1 year.

Adult Cats — Indoor/Outdoor

    • No History - Given as a series of two divided 3-4 weeks apart, then annually.
    • Known History - Given annually until 4 years of age, then every 3 years.
  • FeLV Vaccine (Feline Leukemia)
    • No History - Given as a series of two divided 3-4 weeks apart, then annually.
    • Known History - Given once and then annually.
  • Rabies Vaccine
    • Given once and then repeated annually.
    • Though exposure is rare and unlikely in indoor cats, due to liability issues and ever-changing county law regarding rabies vaccine, we recommend it always be continued annually for safety and liability coverage.
    • At NVH, we recommend this vaccine be given until at least 3 years of age to all cats. If the cat is to stay indoors with ZERO chance of exposure to other cats, then discontinuing this vaccine is an option for clients.
