Esmeralda L.
Veterinary Assistant
Hi, my name is Esmeralda Elguea Lopez, and I am a Veterinary Assistant at Neighborhood Vet Hospital of Peñasquitos. I am passionate about providing high-quality care and helping my patients feel comfortable and confident in their treatment.
Personal Hobbies and Interests
Outside of work, I enjoy going to the gym, having picnics, sleeping, and long car rides and beach walks. I love taking my dog Flaquita to Civita dog park whenever I can. Growing up, I was lucky to have a chihuahua named Chiquis for fourteen years, and today I have a one-and-a-half-year-old Chiweenie named Flaquita who loves playing fetch, going to dog parks, and is a great buddy to nap and cuddle with.
Favorite Part of My Job
What I enjoy most is caring for a pet we've been treating for years—watching them grow and being there for them when they need treatment and helping them feel better.
Why I Chose This Profession
Ever since I was little, I have loved animals and knew that one day I wanted to work in the veterinary field. I knew it would be something I love doing every day, and I've always had a passion for working with dogs and cats.
Education
I graduated from Hoover High School in 2021 and went on to earn my Veterinary Assistant certificate from Pima Medical Institute in June 2024.
Professional Background
The dental side of veterinary medicine really catches my attention—I find it satisfying and especially interesting when it comes to teeth extractions.
Work History
I completed a student internship at Uptown Animal Hospital in Hillcrest from November to December 2023, then worked at Banfield Pet Hospital in Hillcrest from January to June 2024. Since June 2025, I have been at Neighborhood Vet Hospital of Peñasquitos.
