Hi, my name is Kayley Hope, and I am a Lead at Neighborhood Veterinary Hospitals of San Diego in downtown Oceanside, CA. I am passionate about providing high-quality care and helping my patients feel comfortable and confident during their visits.
Personal Hobbies and Interests
At home, I have a five-and-a-half-year-old American pit bull terrier named Kato, who will cuddle all day any day; a five-year-old Doberman pinscher named Rubi, who loves to eat anything she can get, including toys and clothes; and a four-and-a-half-year-old cane corso named Athena, who wants nothing more than food and balls to play with. They all love people of all ages!
Favorite Part of My Job
Growing up, I worked closely with horses, which taught me patience, emotional awareness, and how to remain calm in high-stress situations — skills that carry over into veterinary medicine and allow me to work effectively with nervous and anxious pets. Helping fearful pets feel safe and comfortable during their visits is one of the most rewarding parts of my career, especially when owners express relief and happiness after struggling to find compassionate care for their pets.
Why I Chose This Profession
I have had a passion for animals since childhood, growing up watching Animal Planet and National Geographic and always knowing I wanted to work with animals professionally. I have always been driven to advocate for their health and well-being.
Education
I graduated from Pelham High School in 2019 and completed an accredited Veterinary Assistant Program in 2021. I am currently pursuing my Associate's degree in Animal Science through Penn Foster (2024–present) to become eligible to sit for the boards and obtain my Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) credentials. I am also Recover certified for BLS and ALS, earned in 2025.
Professional Background
One of my favorite aspects of veterinary medicine is the opportunity to continuously learn and gain hands-on experience in multiple areas of patient care, including dentistry, radiology, and surgery.
Work History
I have five years of experience in veterinary medicine, beginning at Veterinary Specialty Hospital in 2021, where I started as a student for six months before being officially hired as an accredited veterinary assistant. I then worked at Fire Mountain general practice veterinary hospital from 2022 to 2024 as an accredited veterinary assistant. Since 2024, I have been at Neighborhood Veterinary Hospitals of San Diego, where I have advanced into my current lead position through dedication, clinical experience, and leadership development.
