Melissa M.
Veterinary Assistant
Hi, my name is Melissa, and I am a Veterinary Assistant at North Escondido Veterinary Hospital. I am passionate about providing compassionate care and helping the animals and families who rely on us.
Personal Hobbies and Interests
My family includes my oldest daughter, Thea; son-in-law, Danny; youngest daughter, Jayden; a Great Dane named Herman; three cats, Jezabel, Chowder, and Mimi; a cockatiel named Webster; and a variety of fish. I am a nature lover. I try to get out and go camping and fishing, but you can often find my fingers buried in garden soil at home, planting my favorite herbs or flowers, reading a good book, or learning a new craft.
Why I Chose This Profession
Having so much love and compassion for animals since I was a small child, I always knew, in my heart, that I needed a career in animal care. As soon as I graduated high school, I attended ROP classes to become a Certified Veterinary Assistant.
Work History
After my certification, I was hired on as a kennel worker and veterinary assistant at the old Escondido Humane Society. After a few months there, I realized I needed a deeper, more profound way to provide the help our beloved animals look to us for. I sent out résumés to the local animal hospitals and accepted a veterinary assistant job at Del Norte Plaza Veterinary Clinic, which is now North Escondido Veterinary Hospital. My last 30 years of experience here have allowed me to care for small animals, exotics, small livestock, and Project Wildlife animals. I plan on obtaining my RVT license to expand my ability to help those in need.
