Hi, my name is Tori Patchen, and I am the Hospital Manager at Neighborhood Vet Hospital of Oceanside. I am passionate about providing high-quality care and helping my patients feel comfortable and confident in their treatment.
Personal Hobbies and Interests
Outside of work, I'm a proud mom to my son and dog mom to my Labrador Retriever, Boone. I love trying new restaurants and drinks, going on adventures, and making the most out of life — whether it's coffee to start the day or wine to unwind, I'm always happy to enjoy the little things along the way. Boone is the definition of lovable chaos: a full-time snack enthusiast who enjoys going for a swim, is great with kids, and gives the best "Office" camera stare any time he's judging our life choices.
Why I Chose This Profession
I have always loved being around animals, and as a young girl I wanted to be an "Animal Doctor." What really drew me in was spending time around horses and watching them being cared for.
Education
I earned my Associate of Arts degree from Palomar Community College between 2011 and 2013. In 2013 I completed the Veterinary Assistant program at MiraCosta, receiving my Certificate of Training as a Veterinary Assistant. In 2020 I completed the Banfield Alternative Veterinary Technician Route and earned my Registered Veterinary Technician certificate.
Professional Background
I have a strong interest in expanding my knowledge and techniques in animal physical therapy and enjoy continuing to grow within the veterinary field. I have also always had a passion for teaching and mentoring new veterinary assistants, helping them build confidence, grow their skills, and succeed in the industry.
Work History
After graduating, I was hired as a veterinary assistant with Banfield Pet Hospital, where I worked my way up to Shift Lead over seven and a half years. In November 2021 I joined Neighborhood Vet Hospital of Oceanside as a veterinary assistant, was soon asked to become the lead, and was promoted to Hospital Manager in late 2023.
