Hi, my name is Zaida Velasco, and I am a Veterinary Technician Assistant at Neighborhood Vet Hospital of Escondido. I am passionate about providing high-quality care and helping my patients feel comfortable and confident in their treatment.
Personal Hobbies and Interests
Outside of work, I make flower arrangements and bouquets, and I enjoy sports like soccer. At home I have a crazy, over-protective five-year-old Pomeranian mix who looks after my eight-year-old son, along with two birds, two chickens, and two turtles.
Favorite Part of My Job
What I enjoy most is being able to see a patient fully recovered.
Why I Chose This Profession
Growing up in the Hispanic culture, I noticed that not everyone values the life of an animal the way they value the life of a human. I wanted to be able to help animals the same way nurses and doctors help people.
Education
I graduated from Pima Medical Institute in 2022 as a Certified Veterinary Assistant. During my studies I interned at Neighborhood Vet Hospital of Escondido and decided to stay.

My favorite things about my job are drawing blood and assisting in surgery.
