Dr. Laura Robinson
Associate Veterinarian
Hi, my name is Dr. Robinson, and I am an Associate Veterinarian at Neighborhood Veterinary Hospital of Oceanside. I am passionate about providing high-quality care and helping my patients feel comfortable and confident in their treatment.
Personal Hobbies and Interests
Outside of work, I love getting outside and being active, whether it's walking, running, biking, going to the beach, or playing pickleball. I enjoy pilates and fun workout classes, as well as snowboarding in the winter and the occasional horseback ride. At home, I have a two-year-old Doberman/pit bull/shepherd mix named Maple.
Favorite Part of My Job
I love building relationships with my clients and forging meaningful connections that span years. It means so much to me to be a pet's doctor from their puppy years all the way through their senior years.
Why I Chose This Profession
I grew up in a family of animal lovers, and with my dad being a human physician, I found a love for both animals and medicine at a young age. As a child I rescued stray dogs and cats, cared for them, and found them homes, all while owning horses and goats. I truly believe animals teach us so much about life, and I love being able to help them and make a difference. My favorite quote is "Until one has loved an animal, a part of one's soul remains unawakened" by Anatole France, because it is so true.
Education
I earned my B.S. in Biology from UC Santa Barbara from 2010 to 2014, where I had the best years of my life. I then took a year off to work in veterinary medicine at a hospital in Laguna before being accepted to vet school the following year. I attended Western University of Health Sciences from 2015 to 2019, graduating with the Dean's Award, the highest honor given to one student in a graduating class for exemplary service, leadership, and academic standing.
Professional Background
My professional interests include building relationships with clients, mass removal surgeries, and problem-solving the puzzles of complicated internal medicine cases.
Memberships
I am a member of the Southern California Veterinary Medical Association (SCVMA) and the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA).
Work History
I began my career as a Veterinary Assistant at Canyon Animal Hospital from 2010 to 2011. After graduating from vet school, I worked as a veterinarian at Antonio Animal Hospital in Orange County for seven years. I had long dreamed of moving to North County, so in 2025 I started part-time at Neighborhood Veterinary Hospitals of San Diego before joining full time in February 2025.
