Hi, my name is Amy Martin, and I am a Registered Veterinary Technician at Neighborhood Vet Hospital of Peñasquitos. I am passionate about providing high-quality care and helping my patients feel comfortable and confident in their treatment.
Personal Hobbies and Interests
Outside of work, I enjoy traveling and spending time with my family. At home I have Emmy, a sixteen-year-old terrier; Banks, a five-year-old Snowshoe cat; and Jessie, a five-year-old orange tabby.
Favorite Part of My Job
My favorite part of my job is building relationships with clients and helping them understand the importance of basic veterinary care for their pets. I enjoy educating and supporting pet owners so they can give their animals the best possible quality of life. I also truly value the teamwork at our hospital and enjoy working alongside my coworkers to provide compassionate, supportive care for both our patients and their families.
Why I Chose This Profession
I have always known that I wanted to care for animals. In high school, I worked at a local pet store and later attended grooming school for a short time. After several years working with pets, I was hired as a receptionist at a cats-only veterinary clinic in San Diego, where our practice manager—a Registered Veterinary Technician—inspired and encouraged me to pursue the Animal Health Technology program at Mesa College. That experience confirmed my passion for veterinary medicine.
Education
I completed the Animal Health Technology program at San Diego Mesa College from 1996 to 1998, and passed the California Veterinary Technician Board licensing exam in 1998 to become a Registered Veterinary Technician.

My professional interests include client communication and geriatric care.
Work History
I worked as a Registered Veterinary Technician at Scripps Parkway Veterinary Hospital from May 1998 to October 2021, and at Animal Emergency Clinic from 2003 to 2005. Since September 2021, I have served as an RVT here at Penasquitos Pet Clinic.
