Hi, my name is Madison Godfrey-Gonzales, and I am a Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) at Neighborhood Vet Hospital of Oceanside, CA and Neighborhood Vet Hospital of Bonsall in Bonsall, CA. I am passionate about providing high-quality care and helping my patients feel comfortable and confident in their treatment.
Personal Hobbies and Interests
When I'm not in either clinic, I'm likely riding or spending time with my horse, or flying with my husband, Tyler, who is a pilot. Traveling is becoming more of a priority with the new opportunities in his career. At home I have Jodi, a fourteen-year-old AQHA mare who has been in the family since she was three. We primarily did gymkhana, barrels, and poles, and while she's a kind, sassy girl I wouldn't trade her for the world — though she'd probably trade me for any morsel of food if she could.
Favorite Part of My Job
What I enjoy most is bonding and building relationships with our patients and clientele.
Why I Chose This Profession
I always had an interest in working with animals, but I was unsure which direction I wanted to pursue until I saw advertisements for Mira Costa's veterinary assistant program. I took a chance and applied, and here we are now!
Education
I completed the Veterinary Assistant Program at Mira Costa Technological Institute from September to December 2019, earning my Veterinary Assistant Certification. I then attended Platt College's Veterinary Technician Program from June 2023 to January 2024, graduating and passing my state boards in April 2024 to become a licensed Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) in California in May 2024.
Professional Background
I love getting to see patients improve throughout their treatments, whether medically, behaviorally, or otherwise. I especially enjoy being involved in surgeries and getting hands-on with dentals. Looking ahead, I have a special interest in pursuing internal medicine or oncology.
Work History
I began my career with an internship at Lake Elsinore Animal Hospital from late 2019 into early 2020. I was then employed as a Veterinary Assistant at Oceanside Veterinary Hospital from April 2020 to May 2021. In June 2021 I joined Neighborhood Veterinary Hospitals of San Diego as a Veterinary Assistant, advancing to Registered Veterinary Technician in May 2024. Since November 2025, I have split my time as an RVT between Neighborhood Veterinary Hospitals of San Diego and Neighborhood Veterinary Hospitals of San Diego of Bonsall.
