Hi, my name is Traycie Powell, and I am a Senior Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) at Neighborhood Vet Hospital of Peñasquitos, CA. I am passionate about providing high-quality care and helping my patients feel comfortable and confident in their treatment.
Personal Hobbies and Interests
Outside of work, I love anything on or near the water, traveling, horseback riding, and watching sports—especially the NFL. At home I have quite the crew: Voltaire, a four-and-a-half-year-old Dalmatian; Cancún, a two-year-old pineapple conure; Antonio Banderas, a twelve-year-old Dutch bunny; and Yoshi, a two-year-old veiled chameleon.

What I enjoy most is going home every day feeling like I made a difference.
Why I Chose This Profession
I'm driven by a desire to provide high-quality care and be an advocate for those who don't have a voice. Animals have always held a special place in my heart, as they offer us non-judgmental, unconditional love.
Education
I attended the University of Maryland and completed my veterinary technician training through Veterinary Allied Staff Education in 2009. I am licensed as a Registered Veterinary Technician in California and a Licensed Veterinary Technician in Virginia.
Professional Background
There's nothing I love more than dentistry—though I also thrive on the excitement of emergency medicine and the chance to challenge my technical skills and take them to the next level.
Work History
I've spent the majority of my career in Emergency/ICU and Dentistry, working in both California and Washington, D.C. My experience includes Atlas District Veterinary Hospital in general practice, surgery, and inventory management (2017–2024); Caring Hands Animal Hospital in general practice, surgery, and dentistry (2024–2025); and Animal Emergency Clinic of San Diego in Emergency and ICU (2026–present). Since August 2025, I have also served as a Senior Registered Veterinary Technician in dentistry here at Neighborhood Vet Hospital of Peñasquitos.
